2019 Accountability Pillar Survey

Notice for Parents & Guardians of Students in Medicine Hat Catholic Schools in Grades 4, 7 & 10 – Watch for a survey to arrive by mail from Alberta Education. 

In January 2019, Alberta Education will mail the 2019 Accountability Pillar Survey to Parents/Guardians of Students in Grades 4, 7 & 10 across Alberta. 

In a letter from the Minister of Education, David Eggen:

"By completing the Accountability Pillar Parent survey, you are giving your school, your school authority, and your provincial government important information about the quality of education your child is receiving and helping to ensure they are being prepared for success."

Frequently Asked Questions

Who receives the survey?
Accountability Pillar Parent surveys are mailed to the parents and guardians of students in Grade 4, Grade 7 and Grade 10 in Alberta. 

How will I receive the survey?
Alberta Education will mail survey packages in January 2019. Watch your mailbox for your survey package to arrive. 

How do I complete the survey?
You have a choice, either paper copy or online - Watch your mailbox at home for an Accountability Pillar Survey Package from Alberta Education.  Complete the survey and return in the envelope provided or simply complete it online using the Random Access Code you receive in your package. 

When is the survey deadline? 
Accountability Pillar Surveys returned by mail must be postmarked no later than February 22, 2019. The Online Survey application will remain open until March 8, 2019.

Why is it important to complete the survey?
Your participation provides valuable information on the quality of education your child is receiving.

Will students do a survey? 
Yes, students in Grades 4, 7 and 10 will complete a survey at school. All teachers in Medicine Hat Catholic Schools will also complete the survey.   

Are survey responses kept anonymous?
Yes, all survey responses are anonymous. 

Questions about the survey? 
Parents are always encouraged to talk to their child’s teacher or the school principal.  You can always find more information online from Alberta Education about their survey at this link. Accountability Pillar FACT SHEET   

When you complete the survey, you’re adding your voice to the future of education in your school and throughout Alberta. Results are used by schools, school authorities, and government to see what’s working and what needs to be improved. We all have a part to play in the important work of educating the next generation of Albertans.
