Steps to Address Questions and Concerns

Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education wants to hear your questions and concerns, and makes every effort to address them as quickly as possible. Below is the best way to talk to us, and who you should reach out to and when.

In any situation, your child’s classroom teacher is the first point of contact, followed by the school’s principal, the Associate Superintendent - Learning Services or Deputy Superintendent, the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Trustees.

The first place to go about any classroom-related question or concern is your child’s classroom teacher. They can help you with:

  • Any questions about the classroom
  • Classroom rules and concerns 
  • Homework and assignments

If you would like more information or if you have questions that are beyond the classroom, talk to your school principal. They can help with:

  • Concerns about an individual school
  • Student registration
  • Student schedules
  • Student suspensions
  • Report card concerns
  • Homework and assignments
  • Code of Conduct
  • Safety and security
  • Budget and fundraising
  • School Council

The Associate Superintendent - Learning Services can be contacted if you have questions that have not been answered or for help with:

  • Behavior issues that were not able to be resolved by the School Principal.
  • Suspension questions/concerns.
  • Questions regarding ISP’s that were not able to be resolved by the School Principal.

The Deputy Superintendent can be contacted if you have questions that have not been answered or for help with:

  • School-based concerns that were not able to be resolved by the School Principal.
  • Behavior issues that were not able to be resolved by the School Principal.
  • Suspension questions/concerns.

The Superintendent of Schools oversees the entire school division. He is able to help you with:

  • Concerns that were not able to be resolved by either the Associate Superintendent - Learning Services or the Deputy Superintendent.

Trustees are your elected community officials. They are available to help you with the following areas of the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education:

  • Concerns about your community
