What is National Indigenous Peoples Day?
National Indigenous Peoples Day is a day recognizing and celebrating the cultures and contributions of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Indigenous peoples of Canada.
How can I celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day?
We encourage you to participate in activities in your community to learn more about the richness and diversity of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural expressions and stories.
- Attend a demonstration Powwow and Teepee Display
- Attend a virtual field trip listening to Métis fiddle traditions
- Read a book by an Indigenous author, our schools' libraries have a selection of books to choose from!
Contact our Indigenous Support Worker Rod Willier for other ways to celebrate this day: rod.willier@mhcbe.ab.ca
