After a thorough search and selection process, division senior administration has successfully filled the new position of Director of Curriculum. Mr. Colin Desnoyers has been appointed to this crucial new role within the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education effective March 4, 2024.
A Monsignor McCoy graduate, Colin obtained his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education from Montana State University and Master of Religious Education from Newman Theological College. The first 27 years of his professional career were spent in the Lakeland Roman Catholic Separate School Division in Bonnyville working as a teacher, program coordinator, and principal. During this time he was the school division numeracy and math lead where he provided coaching in assessment and instructional strategies. Colin has led multiple professional learning sessions and has spoken across the province and internationally on a variety of topics including Collaborative Response. He and his family returned to Medicine Hat in 2022 and Colin began working at his former high school and obtained the role of Vice-Principal of St. Mary’s School in the 2023-2024 school year.
In his new role, Mr. Desnoyers will collaborate with teachers to identify new curriculum resources, assist in planning and executing units and lessons, and lead the development of report card outcomes. This position will work to identify professional learning opportunities that staff can access to support curriculum implementation and organize working groups with grade-level partners across the division.
Colin brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this new role in our division and will ensure that our staff have access to the necessary resources and training required to deliver high-quality instruction as the new curriculum continues to be implemented.
