A season to be thankful - Superintendent's Blog

Posted on Oct 7, 2019

“For it is in giving that we receive.” (St. Francis of Assisi)

It is difficult to believe that a month has already come and gone!  The start to an amazing school year could not have gone smoother.  Besides a Ministerial visit, welcome back school initiatives, and our booming athletic teams in full throttle we have been all incredibly busy and excited to showcase our wonderful schools!  Equally exciting is the blessing of being employed in a Catholic school jurisdiction.  Although we sometimes take this for granted, Catholic schools connect the academic, extracurricular, and spiritual in a manner that is unique to our faith.  St. John Paul shared that, “Catholic education aims not only to communicate facts but also to transmit a coherent, comprehensive vision of life, in the conviction that the truths contained in that vision liberate students in the most profound meaning of human freedom.”  He explains that the greatest gifts of Catholics are shared and that we should be most thankful for them.

Fall has always been my favorite season.  Besides the glorious colors, the crisp morning air, and the wonderful scents, fall is THE season of thanksgiving.  As we watch the news, and we witness the struggles that many individuals around the world face repeatedly it is truly a time to reflect on the blessings that we have. It is also important to take time away from our busy lives and constant distractions to make time for ourselves and be grateful for the goodness in our life. I wish you all a blessed Thanksgiving and thank you for all of your hard work in the division.

Sincerely,
