World Catholic Education Day

World Catholic Education Day – Thursday, May 29th

Join Catholic schools around the world, as we celebrate World Catholic Education Day on the Feast of the Ascension—a day that reminds us of our shared mission to teach, lead, and grow in faith.

This celebration marks the moment when Jesus, before ascending to heaven, commissioned His followers to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19–20). Today, Catholic schools continue that mission—spreading knowledge, love, and faith in communities around the world.

"World Catholic Education Day provides an opportunity to unite in celebrating the global gift of Catholic Education and its lasting impact on young hearts and minds," says Heather Irvine, Religious Education Coordinator.

Thank you to our staff, students, and families for making our schools places of truth, love, and growth. Your commitment to Catholic education helps shape hearts and minds for generations to come.

Prayer for World Catholic Education Day

(Ascension Thursday)

Risen Lord,
on this day of Your Ascension,
You send us into the world with purpose and hope.

We thank You for the gift of Catholic education
for all who teach, lead, and learn in faith.
Bless our schools around the world,
that they may be places of truth, love, and growth.

Send Your Spirit to guide us,
that we may follow You with courage,
serve others with joy,
and grow always in wisdom and grace.

Mary, Seat of Wisdom, pray for us.
St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us.
Amen.

Wear Blue for Catholic Education

In collaboration with Catholic School Boards around the Province, Medicine Hat Catholic staff and students will wear blue to celebrate Catholic Education! Blue signifies constancy, fidelity, genuineness and aspiration and is especially associated with the Blessed Virgin. This is very appropriate as we celebrate Mary during the month of May.
