We are delighted to offer FREE child speech and language development check-ups for little ones ages 3-4, registered OR not yet registered in Medicine Hat Catholic schools.

Our child development check-ups provide parents with the opportunity to discuss their child's development with members of our early learning team.

We want to ensure that each child receives the best possible foundation for future academic success. For some, that may include early intervention (ages 3-4) with funding. It may feel overwhelming, but don't worry - we've got you covered!

Below you will find links to resources for a free parental screen on your child’s speech and language development:

If you feel that your child is not meeting the milestones outlined or simply want peace of mind of knowing a specialist has screened your child, we invite you to phone your neighbourhood Catholic school to set up a speech and language screening in April!

Purpose of the Screening: The primary purpose of the speech and language screening is to assess various aspects of communication, including speech clarity, language comprehension, and expressive language skills. Early identification of any communication concerns enables us to tailor our educational approach to meet the unique needs of each child.

What to Expect: During the screening, your child will participate in activities that are designed to be fun and interactive. Our specialists will observe and assess different aspects of communication in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Parental Consent: Your consent for your child to participate in the speech and language screening is important to us. When you arrive at the screening you will be asked to sign a consent form before beginning the screen process.

Confidentiality: Please be assured that all information collected during the screening process will be treated with the utmost confidentiality. The results will be shared with you, and if any concerns are identified, we will collaborate with you to develop an appropriate plan of action.

We look forward to working together to support your child on their educational journey! If you have any questions, we encourage you to contact our Learning Services department at (403) 502-8365 or email earlylearning@mhcbe.ab.ca.
