Excellence in Catholic Education Award 2021

The Board of Trustees for the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education are pleased to announce that Laura Hoffman, a teacher at St. Michael’s School, is the recipient of the 2021 Excellence in Catholic Education Award. Mrs. Hoffman’s commitment to preparing her students to grow into outstanding Catholic citizens make her an excellent recipient for this award.

Laura Hoffman consistently teaches and lives the Catholic faith and traditions while caring for those students in her care. She was nominated by her student teacher under her this year who described her as a model for what a passionate and faith driven teacher looks like. Her administrator describes her room as a calm and caring environment where she has a pastoral approach in dealing with any conflicts or challenges.

Laura is a quiet and thoughtful teacher who is respected and treasured amongst her colleagues and students. She is a lifelong learner who is eager to learn from both her colleagues and students. She has taken on the challenges of this past year with a willingness to find ways to reach the needs of her students. When told she was the successful recipient Laura was overcome with gratitude and humbled by the honor.

Laura exemplifies our Division’s motto – "Showing the Face of Christ to All" and makes her the ideal recipient of this year’s Excellence in Catholic Education Award.
