These are exciting times for our School District, as we will be opening a New Catholic Elementary School in September of 2018! Our NEW Catholic Elementary School will offer Dual-Track, K-6 English and French Immersion, including an Early Learning Program for children ages 3-5.

Where is the new Catholic Elementary School located?
The new Catholic Elementary School is located in the South of the City at 4802 Southlands Drive SE.
When will the school be opened and what is the first day of school?
The school will open for September, 2018. The first day of school will be Tuesday, September 4, 2018 for Grades 1-6 The first day of school for Early Learning and Kindergarten will be September 7, 2018 with orientation days September 4, 5 and 6.
What are the school bell times?
Bell times will be announced as soon as possible in co-ordination with our school bus transportation service provider.

Who is my child’s teacher?
Staffing will be announced as soon as possible.
Will there be a Before and After School program?
Yes. A Before and After School Care program will be available for students from Kindergarten - Grade 6. The morning program before school begins at 7 am. The afternoon program after school runs until 5:30 pm. The program may be adjusted based on parent interest and need.

Early Learning, Kindergarten - Grade 6.
What programs are offered at the school?
École St. John Paul II offers both English and French Immersion. This is a dual-track English and French Immersion School offering Grades K-6 an Early Learning Program and Before and After School Care.
What is the age eligibility?
Early Learning: Children ages 3-5 as of September 1st, 2019 can register for the Early Learning Program. Programming for children with special needs starts at age 2½. Early Learning is a fee-for-service program.Kindergarten: A child who turns 5 years old on or before March 1, 2019 can start Kindergarten in the fall of 2018. Kindergarten is an optional program.
Grade 1: A child who turns 6 years old on or before March 1, 2019 can start Grade 1 in the fall of 2018.

Are Early Learning and Kindergarten programs offered in the Morning and Afternoon?
Early Learning is offered in both the AM and PM. The Early Learning Program offers a diverse language experience.
Kindergarten is offered in both the AM and PM. The Kindergarten AM program is in English. The PM program is French Immersion.
Times of both programs will be announced as soon as possible.
Is Early Learning and Kindergarten half-day or full-day?
Both programs are half-day programs. Your child can attend a combination of half-day Kindergarten and half-day Early Learning Program in the same school day! Supervision is offered to bridge the two programs.
What are features of the school?
The school is a LEED Silver environmentally friendly school with many exciting feature including connecting classrooms, large stage, big windows with lots of natural light, chapel, large gym, common areas, a kitchen capable for running a nutrition program, large play fields, baseball diamonds, solar panels and a skating rink. We are also very excited about its close proximity to Holy Family Parish.
What are the Attendance Areas and Boundaries of the School?
Natural Attendances Area: East of 13th Avenue, South of the Trans Canada, North of the City Boundary which includes Southlands; Dunmore and the Rural 2 component, the Rural 2 component of the District does not include Desert Blume. Desert Blume will be zoned to St. Patrick’s School.All District Attendances Zones: French Immersion.
When is an Open House at the new school scheduled?
An open house will be scheduled as soon as possible. Please watch our social media sites for more information about the event. A Facebook event will be created for the open house. We hope to see you there!
How many students can attend the new school?
The school was originally constructed as a 250-seat elementary school, however we are pleased to announce the addition of three modulars that will increase the capacity of the school to 325 students.
What will the playground be like?
We are pleased to announce a grant was received in the amount of $250,000 to build a fantastic playground. See a schematic of a sample playground for the school here:
Is there a nutrition program for the School?
Currently there’s no formal nutrition program planned for September, however the school has been constructed to accommodate a kitchen and servery facilities.
