TOWN HALL MEETING
The Board held a Town Hall Meeting on Monday, January 18, 2010 at St. Patrick's Parish Hall to get input from our Catholic Community on the upcoming budget. The Province of Alberta has encouraged School Divisions to have public consultations to begin discussions on budget considerations and assumptions for the upcoming school year. This meeting was open to all members of the Catholic School Communities in Medicine Hat and Bow Island.
As part of the Budget Planning process the Board of Trustees engaged the Catholic community in Bow Island and Medicine Hat. Government has been preparing the education sector to expect a very lean budget in 2010-2011. The Board of Trustees valued input from all stakeholders on what division priorities should be.
Stakeholders in attendance on January 18, 2010, were placed in groups associated with the four basic grade divisions in our system: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12.
Participants were asked to identify areas where Medicine Hat Catholic might be able to address potential budget constraints.
Finally, participants were asked if they have any further ideas for educational directions in Medicine Hat Catholic.
The Board of Trustees would like to thank our community for participating in the Town Hall Meeting. This was a tremendous opportunity for the Board to connect with our stakeholders. We value your insight and appreciate your contribution. Medicine Hat Catholic is proud to celebrate "What is Right with Catholic education". We look forward to the many opportunities that exist to provide our students with quality Catholic education in partnership with Family, Church and Community.
